12 High-ROI LinkedIn Profile Tips

By Charles Miller

Your LinkedIn profile is like a website landing page.

It tells people...

  • Who you are
  • What you can do
  • Where you've worked
  • And a lot more

But most people barely think about theirs.

Let's change that for you.

Below, you'll find an infographic, then the text of it copy-pasted below. Both will have my top 12 LinkedIn profile tips for getting more job offers, followers, clients, customers, and more. I've used these to attract 100k+ followers and create a large income stream for myself. I've also use them to get 1m+ followers for my clients.

Follow these tips, and you'll have a better profile than 99% of LinkedIn users.

We'll start with the infographic, then I'll write the tips out with some extra details for each below that...

1. Study

Find successful people in your niche, study their profiles, and give yourself a clear idea of what a good profile looks like.

If they're doing well, you can do well too by emulating them. Just make sure you don't copy. Make it your own.

2. Bio

Clearly explain what you do. Bonus points if you add results you've delivered, why you're unique, and/or some personality.

I think results delivered is the most powerful one. Take your most impressive result and distill it into one persuasive sentence.

3. Profile Photo

Add a clear picture of your face, in high resolution, from your waist or chest up, with an optional color in the background.

I would avoid AI photos if I were you. Even if the photo looks a lot like you. Many people will see this as in authentic.

4. Header Photo

Design one in Canva or pay someone on Fiverr or Upwork to do it. Have it sell your most important offer or your value in general.

The vast majority of LinkedIn users either don't have a header photo, or it's not persuasive at all. This is a good area to set yourself apart.

5. Profile Link

Send profile traffic to your most important page (portfolio, newsletter lander, sales page, etc).

You can do so with a custom text link or a button that goes on your profile and underneath your name/bio on posts.

6. Featured Links

Send profile traffic to your other important pages (e.g., newsletter opt-in, portfolio, form to apply to with you).

Don't load this section up with tons of links or past posts. It should have one or two links that lead to your profiting.

7. Creator Mode

Turn this on if you want to build a following. If not, leave it off so you get connections, not followers.

It'll give you some cool tools for content creators and tell profile visitors to follow you instead of connecting.

8. About

Make it about you, but write it for your audience. Appeal to them. Tell a story. Include testimonials.

I start mine with five really good case studies. You can do something like that or tell the story of your career.

9. Experience

Talk about what you did at your past jobs and highlight skills/experiences that appeal to your audience.

Again, you're writing about yourself, but write it with your ideal reader in mind. Craft every sentence to persuade them.

10. Skills + Education

These are straightforward. Add your top skills and any meaningful education you've received.

After that, decide if you want to show your education at the top of your profile or not. I prefer not to because it takes clicks away from my website.

11. Extras

Hit the "add to profile" button on your profile and see if any additional sections (like volunteer work) apply to you.

For most of you, this won't be relevant. But it will be relevant for some, so give it a quick look.

12. Content

Post 3-7 times per week. Mix emotionally-resonant content like inspiration and trust-building content like case studies.

This is the hardest of all the tips, but it makes a big difference. If you have the same, give it a try.

Conclusion

Start from the top and work your way down.

Study the best, emulate them, and optimize your profile as best as you can.

Most people don't do this. If you do, it'll pay you for years.
